UPSC Civil Services Exam (IAS Exam) - Syllabus & Pattern
The UPSC Civil Services Exam is conducted in two stages:

Preliminary Examination (Objective Type) – Screening test for Mains. Marks not counted for final merit.

Main Examination (Written & Interview) – Determines final selection.

Consists of two papers (objective type, 400 marks total):

UPSC Mains
Consists of 9 papers, including 2 qualifying papers and 7 papers counted for merit.
Qualifying Papers

Both are of Matriculation level; minimum 25% required to qualify.

Interview (Personality Test - 275 Marks)
Final merit is based on 1750 marks (Mains) + 275 marks (Interview) = 2025 Marks.
Note: Candidates can write answers (except Language Papers) in English or any Eighth Schedule language.
